Then, in 1974, the American Peace Corps Volunteer, Norman Rilling, and the Dominican, Miguel Mendez, rediscovered the stone on the beaches of Barahona. It was determined by geologists that Larimar is a rare form of blue Pectolite.  Named for Mr. Mendez’s daughter “Larissa” and the Spanish word for sea “Mar”, Larimar contains the blue hues of the Caribbean Sea, with white and gray “clouds”. Faden Quartz is a variety of tabular quartz crystal that contains a fuzzy white line running through the crystal. The name “Faden” comes from the German word for fiber. It is surmised that this white string or fiber was created during the growth process of the crystal after being fractured by the earth’s movement, healed and reground.  Faden quartz repairs and heals, Faden quartz is an important healing crystal and can be programmed to assist in healing specific complaints. Golden Sheen Obsidian

This produces a glassy texture sometimes containing small bubbles of air that are aligned along layers during the cooling process.
